About the Artist
Work by artist Michael Schwab can be found in museums and collections
throughout the country. Over the last 20 years, his work has focused on
reproductions of Native American artwork. Michael's goal has been to
preserve the integrity of Plains Indian art through the use of traditional
materials, tools, and techniques. In this way he hopes to help keep some
of the traditional methods alive and honor the Native Americans. While
remaining faithful to the spirit and design of the Plains tribes, he also
draws inspiration from books, museums, historic photos and experiences
within various individuals and groups. All work is signed and is
accompanied by explanatory notes regarding the use, meaning and symbolism
of the work.
His wife Sandra, has added her talents in jewelry design and has included
